本剧的故事主题，是关于一位独立无畏的13岁女孩安妮·邦查（小安）的探险故事[7]。小安在她的13岁生日时，因为好友的怂恿，偷了一个神秘的音乐盒；小安打开箱子后，她和两位好友莎夏、玛希三人神奇地被传送到一个两栖世界。它是个布满沼泽的岛屿，有拟人化、会说话的两栖动物居民以及危险生物，三人在传送过程中失散。小安来到一个名为肉疣森林（Wartwood）的聚落，被一个青蛙家族收留，并与菜贩贺伯·班特以及他的孙子史哥、孙女波莉一起生活[8][9]；她和史哥成为了好友[10] 。另一方面莎夏在蟾蜍高塔，和尘尘上尉联合起来，向青蛙聚落所在的山谷进军要来镇压叛乱[11]。

在第二季，为了解音乐盒（又称灾难盒）的秘密以及回家的方法，小安和班特一家离开肉疣森林展开一场探险，前往首都蝾托比亚（Newtopia）；在那里，小安与玛希重聚[12][13]。之后，玛希提议一起去探险，挑战来自三个神庙的古老测试，来给音乐盒上的宝石充电[14]；他们不知道，安卓亚斯王其实对音乐盒另有打算。莎夏和尘尘也密谋推翻国王，入侵蝾托比亚要由蟾蜍自己统治整个王国[9][15]。

2018年2月19日，迪士尼批准了《蛙！小安的奇幻之旅》的制作计划，同时批准的还有《奇幻猫头鹰小屋》[1]；本剧执行制作人马特·布拉利，先前曾参与《神秘小镇大冒险》、《格林一家进城趣》的制作。

布拉利在Twitter上表示，在获得迪士尼的批准之前，他已经做了将近两年的准备工作[27]；不过在《神秘小镇大冒险》即将结束时，他就已经开始规划[28]。2019年5月14日（在本剧正式开播前），迪士尼发布了预告片[29]，并在第二天续订《蛙！小安的奇幻之旅》第二季[30][31]。在第二季首播之前的2020年6月23日，本剧获得第三季续订[32]；在Reddit问答中，布拉利说本作是三部曲、将第二季称为“第二幕”（2nd act），暗示第三季将成为最后一季[33]。他在问答中进一步澄清，他“目前已经为3[季]构建了故事”，这意味着第三季将作为该剧的最后一季。[33][34]2022年3月16日晚些时候，故事板艺术家亚历·斯旺森（Alex Swanson）在Twitter上确认第三季将是该剧的最后一季。[35]

本剧灵感源自布拉利小时候前往泰国曼谷的旅行[36]，风格受阿德曼动画、吉卜力工作室的作品启发[36][28]，叙事方式则参考《神秘小镇大冒险》、《神脐小卷毛》[37]；萨尔达传说系列、超时空之钥等游戏，在布拉利制作此剧时也有影响[38]。其他被他提及的作品包括《蝙蝠侠：动画系列》、《夜行神龙》等；其中，布拉利参考《夜行神龙》做出故事架构[39]。布拉利创作本剧的原因，是因为他想要一个主角类似派西卡·挪威特（Pacifica Northwest，《神秘小镇大冒险》配角）的作品；能加进这种角色的大转变到剧中，对他来说意义重大[36]。史哥这一角色在设计时一直变动，编剧考虑过给他不一样的年纪，最后给他的形象是像小安的弟弟[40]。同样地，小安、莎夏、玛希原本是十五岁，以呈现出中学时代的感觉；不过为了迎合目标观众的年龄，最后将他们的年纪调小[41]。

本作也是第一个以泰裔美国人为主角的动画作品[28]。布拉利有一半泰国血统，由于他想要更多泰裔角色出现，他决定创造出一个这样的主角，也就是小安[42]；他说，小安的形象有一部分来自他的外祖母[36]。布拉利很重视小安的这个设定，想让真实世界中的泰裔美国人，能看到自己被呈现在电视节目里[28]；同时也让小安肤色更深，因为他自己的母亲就是如此[43]。第三季剧情发生在地球，也放入更多关于小安的泰国背景，包括一座在洛杉矶的漥寺（วัด）。布拉利说剧情中呈现寺庙的方式很准确；对他来说，能准确呈现出泰国文化很重要[41]。

本剧设定在一个青蛙的世界，因为布拉利觉得蝌蚪发生变态而发育成蛙类，可与这部作品的主题“转变”相契合[44]。布拉利还将社会阶级、环境意识的情境加进剧情，而且小安和几种不同社会背景的青蛙互动，并学习欣赏周围的自然世界[43]。

另外，由于剧中以青少女为中心，四位编剧中有三位是女性[36]，布拉利认为这是有需要的；分镜师可以在制作时放进自己的想法，布拉利在《神秘小镇大冒险》制作是就是这么做的[36]。布拉利希望在适合各年龄层的前提下，做出紧凑的剧情；所以他常会检查场景是否儿童不宜，或者是否按计划中的样子呈现[40]。

2019年首播前，本剧四位主角的英语配音人员——宋布兰、贾斯汀·费尔宾格、比利·法摩尔（英语：Bill Farmer）以及阿曼达·莱顿（英语：Amanda Leighton）先后公开[30][45]。小安一角有超过五十位女性演员应征试镜，包括安娜·艾卡娜、海莉·朱（英语：Haley Tju）在内；尽管小安最后是由宋布兰配音，布拉利也安排让安娜·艾卡娜和海莉·朱分别配音莎夏和玛希[46][32]。布拉利也说，有些角色是为了特定配音人选设计的，例如安卓亚斯王是由凯斯·大卫配音[46]。有个神似《芝麻街》的大青蛙科米配角在第二季登场，其配音人员马特·沃格尔（英语：Matt Vogel (puppeteer)）以“大青蛙科米”（Kermit the Frog）的名义列在片尾的配音名单里；科米本尊曾在《蛙！小安的奇幻之旅》的宣传影片和两部短片里出现[47][48][49][50]，也曾在迪士尼D23博览会中，宣传本剧与《格林一家进城趣》[51]。布拉利说，宋布兰配音时曾即兴发挥过几次[52]；艾力克斯・赫希（英语：Alex Hirsch）在第二季配音时也曾这么做[53]。在2019冠状病毒病疫情期间，配音人员们各自在家配音自己的台词，再寄给制作团队[54]。迪士尼频道将台湾的国语配音，交由“意妍堂制作股份有限公司”制作。为因应台湾迪士尼频道预定在2022年1月1日停止营运，自2021年起，意妍堂也开始制作Disney+线上串流平台的配音[55][56]。

第三季的客串演员包括：琥碧·戈柏、凯特・米库奇（英语：Kate Micucci）、布莱德·嘉瑞特、阿奇·耶茨、华莱士·肖恩（英语：Wallace Shawn）和杰森·里特等人。第三季有一集圣诞节特别篇，里面有一首歌，是《神脐小卷毛》制作人芮贝卡·薛格谱写的；布拉利曾在《神脐小卷毛》第一季担任编剧和分镜师。

动画 编辑

布拉利选了三家韩国的动画工作室-Rough Draft Korea、Sunmin Image Pictures及Saerom，来制作动画，因为他们还在制作手绘传统动画，他认为其画风比较适合这部作品[57]。动画师们花三、四个月进行准备工作，再以每集约九个月的进度完成。在加州柏本克的华特迪士尼制片厂，有四十名员工也参与制作[36]。

英国画师詹姆士·透纳（James Turner）曾参与早期制作过程，他曾在精灵宝可梦系列游戏制作中担任艺术总监[58]。本剧的视觉效果参考1982年电影《黑水晶（英语：The Dark Crystal）》以及1977年哈比人的音乐动画节目[36]，动画场景取材自自然环境[52]；一集的剧本完成后便开始制作分镜[57]。布拉利说，小安和玛希尽管都是亚裔美国人，不过他们的设计也有所不同；制作团队不想被“亚洲人应该是什么样子”局限、也不是要做讽刺画，而是想真实呈现出这个族裔[46]。

2020年3月24日，迪士尼电视动画公司因2019冠状病毒病疫情关闭，本剧制作人员仍远距继续制作[59]；当时他们已开始制作第二季结局的分镜，其他几集也才完成部分[60]。

T·J·希尔（T. J. Hill）为本剧制作配乐[61]。莱斯里·沃夫哈德（Leslie Wolfhard）是《探险活宝》前编剧史蒂夫·沃夫哈德（英语：Steve Wolfhard）的妻子，她为本剧写了一首歌曲，放进第一季第4集《充电大作战》里[62]。2020年7月23日，希尔在SoundCloud建立一份播放清单，里面有第一季里的10首配乐[63]。

《Welcome to Amphibia》是在迪士尼的要求下制作的，本来是主题曲，但是后来没有正式使用，改用无歌词的纯音乐版本[64]；布拉利说服工作室改用无歌词版本，因为他认为原本的主题曲不适合这部作品和其主角[64]。迪士尼在2019年5月17日，公布主题曲的最终版本[65]。无歌词版本的主题曲，在“主题曲大战”中有另外两个版本，第一个由Hyper Potions制作、第二个由丹·席格（Dan Siegel）制作[38]。

第一季的结局《大团圆》中收录了比尔·威瑟斯的歌曲《Lean on Me（英语：Lean on Me (song)）》。布拉利说，他在发展小安、玛西和莎夏之间的关系时不断地听这首歌，因此，当《大团圆》的工作开始时，布拉利选择将这首歌用于莎夏试图牺牲自己的场景。[66]

2018年7月19日在圣地亚哥国际漫画展中，在《公主闯天关》、《格林一家进城趣》的宣传会上，迪士尼公开一个片头曲的早期版本[71]，并限量提供史哥的玩偶。2019年4月26日，迪士尼公开两段影片，一段是由西丽卡·格雷·卫斯特布鲁克（Celica Gray Westbrook）演唱的歌曲《欢迎来到两栖世界》（Welcome to Amphibia）[72]、另一段是两分钟短片[73]。

《蛙！小安的奇幻之旅》获得一些正面评价。常识媒体（英语：Common Sense Media）的埃米莉·阿什比（Emily Ashby）评价四星（满分五星），称赞小安、史哥的冒险以及他们的友情互动主题；而且剧中表现的霸凌、心理操纵问题，不仅能引起儿童、青少年的共鸣，也能引起相关的讨论[78]。贝嘉·柏本克（Bekah Burbank）称赞本剧能平衡幽默、恐怖、节奏、角色以及动画制作等各元素，评论本剧对儿童而言，故事描写得好又不失诙谐[79]，说道“《蛙！小安的奇幻之旅》既聪明又愚蠢，有大量的笑话让孩子们开怀大笑，也有足够的恐怖内容来吸引他们的注意力。该剧进展很快，每集分为两集，各11分钟，至少在首映时，这两个分集构能够成为一个完整的章节。动画充满活力、色彩缤纷，角色令人愉悦”。Collider的戴夫·特朗波（Dave Trumbore）给前两集四星评分，认为它们作为一部作品的开头做得相当出色[80]。
