它形成了一组被称为鹿豹座 R1星协的恒星,是鹿豹座OB1星协的一部分。几乎完全相同的超巨星鹿豹座CE位于南面半度处。

做为一颗联星,鹿豹座CS被命名为斯特鲁维(英语:Struve 385,STF 385,Σ385)[14]

主要成员鹿豹座CS A是一颗蓝白B型超巨星,平均视星等为4.21m。它被归类为天鹅座α型变星,亮度从4.19m至to 4.23m。它的伴星鹿豹座CS B是一颗8.7等的蓝巨星,距离主星2.4弧秒[16]
