歐裔澳大利亞人

歐裔澳大利亞人（英語：European Australians）是指祖先源自歐洲，現在居住在澳大利亞的後裔，為澳大利亞最大的族裔。19世紀初期，澳大利亞絕大多數的人都有歐裔血統，這使人們將澳大利亞視為歐洲國家。歷史上，歐洲移民對澳大利亞的社會文化產生了巨大影響。[4][5]

在2016年的人口普查中，有33％的受訪者表示自己祖先是「澳大利亞人」。澳大利亞統計局表示，大多數表態自己先祖是「澳大利亞人」的受訪者其實都是歐裔白人（主要是盎格魯-凱爾特人（英语：Anglo-Celtic Australians））。[8]

英國海外領土新南威爾斯殖民地（英语：Colony of New South Wales）首次建立於1788年1月26日[9]，由亞瑟·菲利普船長所建立，此建立日期後來成為澳大利亞國慶節（澳大利亞日），新南威爾斯殖民地範圍還包含現在的紐西蘭群島，直到1841年成為獨立的殖民地為止。[10]

澳大利亞歐洲裔人口從1800年的0.3％上升至1850年的58.6％。[24]在1868年，歐裔澳大利亞人人口為1,539,552。[25]

澳大利亞大量土地被用於農業和其他目的，除了對特定地區的生態產生了明顯影響外，還透過掠奪資源、居住空間和食物來剝奪澳大利亞原住民的生存空間；歐裔移民者帶來了傳染病使澳大利亞原住民染病死亡。在1788年至1930年代之間的的衝突導致至少20,000澳大利亞土著居民和2,000至2,500名歐洲裔死亡。[26]

在19世紀，愛爾蘭人佔了澳大利亞歐洲裔人口的25％[12]；德國裔為澳大利亞除了英國之外最大的歐裔移民社群。[27]

1971年，移民澳大利亞的海外十大出生地中有九個來自歐洲國家，佔海外出生人口總數的77.2％。來自英國的人仍然是最大的群體。但是，它們在海外出生人口總數中的比例有所下降，從1971年的40.6％（1,046,356）下降到2016年的17.7％（1,078,064）。[28]

歐裔澳大利亞人的文化構成部分澳大利亞文化，澳大利亞的文化本質上是一種西方文化，然後受澳洲大陸獨特的地理環境、澳洲原住民、托雷斯海峽島民和其他大洋洲族群影響融合形成。.[49] 由於英格蘭人是最大的移民族裔，因此他們的文化影響力自然大於同樣是大不列顛移民的愛爾蘭人，威爾斯人或蘇格蘭人。在語言（英語）、法律（英美法系）、政府體系、宗教教派（基督新教聖公會）和體育（板球和橄欖球）等領域都是構成澳大利亞文化的因素。[50]
