森林小丘

紐約市皇后區一個住宅區

森林小丘（Forest Hills）是紐約市皇后區一個以居住為主的社區（Community）。最初，該地區被稱為「白罐」（Whitepot）。[2]其北邊、東邊和南邊的邊界分別為長島高速公路、大中央快速路和聯盟收費公路（英語：Union Turnpike (New York)）。Google地圖顯示其西邊的邊界大致沿102街（102nd Street）、67道（67th Avenue）及長島鐵路以前的洛克威海灘支線（英語：Rockaway Beach Branch）；[3]而《紐約市百科全書（英語：The Encyclopedia of New York City）》定義的西邊邊界則為連接大道（英語：Junction Boulevard）和以前的洛克威海灘支線。[4]:469

開發 編輯

1895年，森林小丘南邊相鄰的公園——森林公園（英語：Forest Park (Queens)）開始開發。1896年開始，綠化公司奧姆斯特德-奧姆斯特德-艾略特（Olmsted, Olmsted & Eliot）簽約為該公園提出一項計劃。[4]:469

1906年，由布魯克林檢察官科德·邁耶領導的科德·邁耶開發公司（Cord Meyer Development Company），買下了包含六個農場的成片土地。這六個農場分別為阿斯甘·巴克斯（Ascan Bakus）、卡斯帕·約斯特-斯普林斯廷（Casper Joost-Springsteen）、霍雷肖·N·斯夸爾（Horatio N. Squire）、艾布拉姆·V·S·洛特（Abram V. S. Lott）、薩拉·V·波爾莫（Sarah V. 1972年，森林小丘議會擬議了一個公營住宅項目，打算在62馬路（62nd Drive）和108街（108th Street）建造三棟24層高樓，但遭到了居民的抗議。中產階級的居民們認為，窮人會住進這些公營住宅，這將降低社區的生活質量。而該項目的支持者則指責居民們種族歧視，因為開發所擬遷入的居民將主要是少數族群。[23]由於圍繞森林小丘房屋的爭議，市長約翰·林賽（英語：John Lindsay）遭到了強烈反對。馬里奧·庫默，一名律師即後來的紐約州州長，奉命調解這場爭端，並成功將項目規模縮小了一半。紐約市住房局（英語：New York City Housing Authority）最終執行了一項嚴格的篩選過程，來篩選未來森林小丘房屋的居民，其中包含給老年人和較貧困戶的配額。[23][4]:469

根據2010年美國人口普查的數據，森林小丘的人口是86,364，較2000年的85,046人增長了1,318（1.5%）。該社區覆蓋面積為1,328.22英畝（537.51公頃），因此人口密度為63.0名居民每英畝（40,300名居民每平方英里；15,600名居民每平方公里）。[1]

森林小丘是皇后區在家工作的居民百分比最高的社區之一，達到受僱人群的4.4%。[24]

該社區的種族比例（英語：Race and ethnicity in the United States Census）為，白人58.3%（48,822人），非洲裔2.5%（2,086人），美國土著0.1%（63人），亞裔24.2%（20,233人），太平洋島民0.0%（22人），其他種族0.4%（373人），有2.1%（1,719人）來自兩個或多個種族。西語裔或拉丁裔各種族佔了總人口的12.4%（10,410人）。[25]

從歷史上看，森林小丘已經有許多猶太人居民。雷哥公園和森林小丘之間的區域居住着許多布哈拉猶太人（英語：Bukharan Jews），是世界上以色列以外地區中最大的聚居區之一。

森林小丘的南部有一片獨特的高檔住房，多種多樣的房屋混合在一起，從獨棟別墅、聯排別墅，到低層和高層公寓樓。長島鐵路南邊的森林小丘花園區域是一個私人社區，有一些住宅地產是皇后縣最貴的。在1970年代之前，這一直受到排他性契約（英語：Covenant (law)#Exclusionary covenants）的約束，其中並未載有明確的經濟、社會或種族限制。[26]埃里克·P·納什（Eric P. 虛構的漫畫角色蜘蛛俠的家被設定在森林小丘。他本名彼得·帕克（Peter Parker），在英格拉姆街（Ingram Street）20號（40°42′46″N 73°50′36″W / 40.712805°N 73.843281°W / 40.712805; -73.843281 (英格拉姆街20號)）長大。在該系列中，這所房子被描述為一座樸素的兩層樓寄宿公寓，由他的梅嬸經營。[50][51][52]
